Understanding Types – Type of Error Code in Microsoft Excel

Error code (Error Code) will appear when there is an error using a function, writing formulas, calculations or on inputting data. Microsoft Excel error codes have different meanings – different. The cells containing the error code will usually be shown with a green triangle in the upper-left corner of the cell. This sign is a warning sign that the data you have entered is wrong. 6. Error Checking Options, namely to open the excel options dialog box and reset the error results that can be displayed.

You can use commands – the order when necessary. but we must also know, that the green triangle mark is not only green, because you can change the color of the triangle sign to another color in the box Excel Options – Formulas.

We often encounter this error code if there is an error in writing formulas or in determining cells / column in the formula we created, but to prevent that from happening we have to be more careful in making formulas in this Excel application.

   An error code that will appear if the resulting numeric data is too long to exceed the column width. examples we can see as in the image below :

   

   Double Click the column heading in the selected cell, then the column width will immediately adjust the length of the data. or you can also slide the column manually.

2. Error # DIV / 0!
   

   An error code that will appear if numeric data is divided by zero or blank cells. examples we can see as in the image below :

   

   In the picture above we can see that cell B4 has data 300 divide by cell C4 by the data value 0, then the result that came out was error # DIV / 0! .

3. Error #N/A
   

   An error code that will appear if the resulting numeric data is not available or is empty of a function. examples we can see as in the image below :

4. Error #NAME?
   

   This error code will appear if a function does not allow text data in it or you are wrong when writing the range name in a function. examples we can see as in the image below :

5. Error #NULL!

6. Error #NUM!
   

   An error code will appear if a function contains an invalid value (undefined). examples we can see as in the image below :

   

   In the example image above we can see the data -10 will be rooted. On mathematical formulas, yield from the root -10 undefined because the value argument is minus, so that microsoft excel will display the #NUM error results! for value – undefined value.

7. Error #REF!

   Error code that will appear if a function contains an invalid cell reference. examples we can see as in the image below :

   

   In the example image above we can see the result of the #REF error! appears because the formula in column F refers to the data in the table range which is read as the 6th column number, because in the range of tables that are read only as much data 2 column, then the formula is no longer valid.

8. Error #VALUE!
   

   Error code that will appear if a function contains different data types. An example can be seen in the image below :

   

   In the example image above, we can see the #VALUE error result! type of error code in microsoft excel, so that the formula is no longer valid because it has a different data type.
